Kicking this month’s horror-themed MMMs will be a song by Talking Heads. The song is features lyrics which seem to represent the thoughts of a serial killer. It starts off as a semi-narrative of the killer actually committing murders.

What’s creepy about this song is when it was finally completed and released as a single in December 1977, “Psycho Killer” became instantly associated in pop culture with the Son of Sam serial killings/shootings that happened in the same year. Although the band said that the song had no inspiration from those events, the single’s release date was “eerily timely”. Despite the meaning and background this iconic song had, I still think it’s a good song and the lyrics can be catchy too if you think about it, especially the chorus and bridge with the French words…just don’t actually kill someone y’know? Not cool.
